Just Recieved My CPL
I'm pretty excited. I just received my CPL in the mail and I have no one to share it with. My wife thinks I'm crazy as does my Mother, they both were against it. My Father doesn't see why I need one, although he wasn't completely against it.
It may seem like a strange post to come on here and share this with everyone, but I feel GIM was a big part in helping me make up my mind to get the license. I doubt I would have ever got one if I hadn't found this place and a bunch of like minded people who are interested in preserving and exercising the personal liberties that we have as citizens of the U.S. I have a couple acquaintances that have one but I don't have any close friends that do. (I guess I run in the wrong crowds!) So GIM was a big factor in persuading me. When anyone asks me why I want a CPL, I simply say, "It's my right as a citizen of the United States to have a gun and be able to carry it if I choose. I wanted to exercise that right before it becomes more difficult to do so. I suggest that you think about doing the same. Having the right to carry a gun doesn't mean you have to, it simply means you may do so within the law if you so choose." Well, thanks for listening guys. That's really all I had to say. |
Re: Just Recieved My CPL
Congratulations, Monte. What do plan on carrying, if you don't mind me asking?

Congrats! :clap2:

Re: Just Recieved My CPL
Good job! Get comfortable carrying. Find what combination works (clothes, holster, gun). Hopefully you'll never need it, but I'm glad you have it!

Re: Just Recieved My CPL
If you'd be so kind as to upload the text of the statute regarding concealed carry, it may be enlightening.
If it's like most states, it will be limited to "persons liable" and not apply to "private property". FYI - if you absolutely own your self, you're private property. (smile) |
Re: Just Recieved My CPL
Congrats Monte.
where I used to work one of the temps told me his story. He got caught carrying a concealed weapon and convicted of a felony. Lost his job and his life was pretty much destroyed. Between his lawyer and the court system, all of his bank accounts were drained. All he can find is minimum wage work with a temporary service. |

M, Ask you wife, your Mom and your Dad WHY they are against it. They will give you all sorts of reasons (see link below). Then ask them if they have car insurance - they do. Ask them if they have home insurance - they do. Then tell them that they MUST be planning to wreck their car and burn their house down, otherwise WHY have insurance. Plus, if you want to really understand why they think this way, read this link, which explains about why people 'project' their feelings over to you. It is actually their fears and misgivings they are saying that YOU MUST HAVE. No you don't. Here's the link - Raging Against Self Defense - and it's a good one. It's long, but gives a very good view into why people are like this. WELCOME TO THE GUN CULTURE. When you first start carrying, you will think EVERYONE must know you are armed. Then, after a while you will realize that most sheep couldn't pick out those who are and those who are not going around armed. YOU on the other hand will be able to see who is and who is not packing, because you get used to seeing it on you. Again, welcome to our world. |
